Points of Interest: Combe Martin to Ilfracombe

Here’s what to look out for along the way:

Combe Martin Bay

The walk starts at Combe Martin’s sheltered bay, with coastal hills opening out ahead.

Broadsands Bay

A picturesque cove set below steep cliffs. Access may be restricted due to past landslides.

Watermouth & Marina

A quiet stretch along the edge of Watermouth Bay, with views of the small marina and inlet.

Coastal Cliffs & Rock Formations

The route winds over striking headlands with sea-carved cliffs and distinctive rock features.

Hillsborough & The Torrs

A steep climb to Hillsborough offers sweeping views of Ilfracombe. The Torrs nature reserve follows along open cliff-top paths.

Verity

Towering over the harbour, Verity is a striking 20-metre bronze statue by Damien Hirst—part warrior, part anatomical study—now an iconic part of Ilfracombe’s skyline.

Ilfracombe Harbour & Landmark Theatre

The walk ends in Ilfracombe, a harbour town with a Victorian past, dramatic seafront, and the distinctive Landmark Theatre.
