SWCP 20: Hayle to St Ives

Easy

20 September 2025

The South West Coast Path from Hayle to St Ives is a scenic 15 km (9.5 miles) stretch that combines estuary, beachside walking, and some clifftop views. Beginning along the Hayle Estuary, an internationally important RSPB reserve rich in birdlife, the route continues through Lelant and above the sweeping sands of Carbis Bay. The only real climb comes as the path rises before and after Carbis Bay, before the final approach into St Ives, where golden beaches, a bustling harbour, and a famous artistic heritage await.
