Challenging – Strenuous

Crackington Haven to Boscastle is a rugged, physically demanding stage featuring some of Cornwall’s highest cliffs, dramatic geology, and unforgettable views. Packed with climbs, headlands, and coastal wildlife, it’s one of the most exhilarating sections so far.

Points of Interest: Crackington Haven to Boscastle

Here’s what to look out for along the way:

Tremoutha Haven

A narrow combe crossed by bridges, marking the first dip after climbing out of Crackington Haven.

Cambeak

A striking headland shaped like a crooked beak. Steep zigzag path up, but incredible views from the top.

High Cliff

At 735 feet (224m), this is Cornwall’s highest sea cliff. The climb is steady and grassy, followed by a long descent to Rusey Beach.

Rusey Beach & Cliff

A remote cove with a tough climb up to another dramatic headland, with views for miles and possible seabird sightings.

Buckator & Gull Rock

A remote stretch of cliff designated SSSI, known for rare butterflies and views of sea stacks like Gull Rock below.

Beeny Cliff & Firebeacon Hill

Wide, open moorland walking with a history of warning beacons. Once part of the Spanish Armada signal chain.

Pentargon Waterfall

A dramatic 120-ft drop into the sea from a hanging valley, crossed via footbridge below steep steps.

Boscastle Harbour Entrance

The path curves to reveal Boscastle’s narrow, natural harbour—dramatic, sheltered, and steeped in maritime history.

Boscastle Village

A compact harbour town rebuilt after the 2004 flood. Known for slate buildings, art galleries, and the famously haunted Cobweb Inn.
