🥾 Route Overview: The North Cornwall Coast
In 2025,2025 Highlights: Conquering the North Cornwall “Roller Coaster”
In 2025, Roxie and I continued our journey along the iconic South West Coast Path. Picking up where we left off in Clovelly, we traded the gentle woodlands of Devon for the raw, wild power of the North Cornish coastline. This was a year of “severe” challenges, massive elevation, and industrial ghosts—a true test of endurance for both human and spaniel!
Key Milestones in this Video:
- The Atlantic Takeover: Leaving the cobbles of Clovelly for the jagged slate of Hartland Quay and crossing the border into Cornwall at Marshland Mouth.
- The High Peaks: Conquering High Cliff—the highest point on the Cornish Coast Path—and the 160-step challenge of Rusey Beach.
- Literary & Mythic Trails: Walking through the landscapes that inspired Thomas Hardy and exploring the heart of King Arthur country at Tintagel.
- Mining Heritage: Descending past the iconic Wheal Coates engine house, where the cliffs are stained with Cornwall’s industrial history.
- Wildlife & Wild Weather: Spotting grey seals at Mutton Cove before the final, rain-soaked push around the Hayle Estuary.
- The Finish Line: A soggy but celebratory finish at the 14th-century Sloop Inn in St Ives, marking the end of an incredible second season.
