The Ship Aground
The Ship Aground, once known as The Pier, is a landmark pub on Minehead’s seafront. Its name recalls the shipwrecks that were once a familiar sight along this stretch of coast, where vessels frequently ran aground on shifting sands and strong tides. The building itself has long served as a gathering place for sailors and townsfolk, and today its walls carry echoes of Minehead’s maritime past. With its position near the old harbour, it stands as a reminder of the town’s close ties to the sea.
