Culbone
Culbone, tucked into the steep wooded coast west of Porlock, is famed for having England’s smallest parish church, seating barely 30 people. The church of St Beuno has stood here since Norman times, reached only by footpaths through deep combes and ancient woodland. Remote and atmospheric, Culbone has long inspired writers and wanderers, its isolation once also giving rise to stories of hermits and outcasts who lived along this rugged stretch of coast.
