Clovelly
Clovelly is a unique fishing village on the north Devon coast, famous for its steep cobbled street that winds down to a tiny harbour. Once owned by a succession of noble families, it has preserved its historic character with whitewashed cottages, donkey transport, and no cars allowed in the village itself. For centuries it relied on herring and other fishing, and echoes of that maritime past remain in its quay and cottages. Today Clovelly is both a living community and one of the most distinctive heritage villages on the South West Coast Path.
