Hi there! I’m John, a former teacher in my 70s, and I live in the Midlands.
I grew up in Exeter, Devon, so I’m quite familiar with many of the spots along the South West Coast Path from my younger days.
I love getting out for walks with a local group and have enjoyed some fantastic walking holidays with friends over the years. We’ve tackled Hadrian’s Wall, the last six days of the Portuguese Camino to Santiago, part of the Camino del Norte in the Basque Country and several more!
I’ve been thinking about taking on the South West Coast Path for a while now, especially after I read The Salt Path a few years back while I was stuck in bed with Covid. It wasn’t quite inspiration (especially with recent revelations!) but it certainly convinced me that The Walk had to be done.
Roxie and I are finally embarking on the challenge of walking the South West Coast Path. Although I’m in my seventies and the prospect of covering 630 miles is significant, I’m ready to take it on. With Roxie by my side, we’ll tackle the journey one step at a time, appreciating the scenery and the experience of exploring the coastline together. This challenge is about the journey and the opportunity to discover new places and meet new people along the way.
